Strategies over Systems
Strategy is defined as a plan, a method and/or a series of moves employed with the specific purpose of obtaining a goal. System, on the other hand, is an assembly or combination of factors or parts coming together to form a complex whole.
What’s the point in explaining the difference here? It all has to do with playing online blackjack.
Having a strategy is one thing – using knowledge to create a flexible and changeable plan of attack to ultimately win at the game. This is a good thing. But too many people are buying into false systems and are losing money at alarming rates.
If you’re the type of person who likes to play online blackjack for real money, then you have probably thought about employing a system and have maybe even tried one.
A system will not grant you any long-term success, though, and it’s important to understand that using any type of system locks you in and leaves you at the mercy of the game, whereas with a strategy-based game you are able to adapt using knowledge, feeling and real-time information.
Why won’t systems work? Well, there are countless reasons – none the least of which is that it is literally impossible to accurately predict which card is coming out of the deck for any prolonged period of time.
Even in a one or two-deck shoe at a land-based casino, keeping a running count is something that will only increase your odds. It doesn’t guarantee a win. And when you’re talking about the top 10 online casinos, for example, you’re looking at very complicated random number generating software and possibly up to 8 decks of cards per shoe.
In order to keep your money and keep your sanity, always stray far away from blackjack systems. Find a strategy that’s good for you, practice at the game, and evolve the strategy until it fits your playing style. With a system, there’s no freedom to play your own game and really no payoff in the end outside of the casino.
